Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, Chinese Academy of Sciences held the 2016 Institut Pasteur international network Asia-Pacific regional meeting
On May 18th to 20th, 70 participants were gathered at the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai, Chinese Academy of Science for the annual Asia Pacific regional meeting of the Institut Pasteur international network. The presentations made during 2 days highlighted the diversity and quality of research and public health activities in the region as well as the strength of the cooperations.
Representatives from the 9 institutes of the region together with invited colleagues from the Institut Pasteur in Dakar, Iran and Paris discussed on-going research projects and public health issues of regional and global importance including:
· Outbreak and emergencies responses,
· Anti-microbial Resistance,
· Interactions between infectious agents (in particular viruses) and Cancers, as well as between the microbiota and Cancers,
· Industrial valorization and technology transfer.
The presence of representatives from the National Health Laboratory in Myanmar and from four major Australian research institutions (The Peter Doherty Institute, Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Monash University and Institute for Glycomics) to this meeting, illustrated the strong partnerships that the Institut Pasteur International Network is building in the region.
The regional meeting was organized with the support of the French Embassy in China and the Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences.
