-INDA HANDS-ON NGS-GWAS COURSE, 10 - 19 SEPTEMBER, 2015, Saint-Louis, Senegal -OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION, 2 - 6 November 2015, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam -8th HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course, 22 November - 4 December 2015, Hong Kong, China
We are happy to announce the International Network for Data Analysis (INDA) Hands-on course in NGS and GWAS. The objective of the course is to provide to each student the knowledge and tools necessary to understand and analyze Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, as well as Genome-wide association studies (GWAS), no matter the dataset they have or where they come from in the RIIP. The course is around two weeks long. First week is devoted to theory sessions that will include the basis of NGS technologies, quality analysis, algorithms for mapping and assembling, different kinds of biological experiments and a strong focus on the corresponding statistical techniques. We will also offer and introduction to GWAS, Genotypic variation and linkage disequilibrium, and SNP array design, with some model cases. The second week is dedicated to practice, in which the students work with their own data in small groups with a mentor that guides them. The practice week is designed so the course is of immediate use to each student. We expect the students to go back to their countries with the necessary knowledge to continue working on their own data. Lastly, this course will also promote interactions through bioinformatics between different Institut Pasteur in the RIIP.
We will only accept candidates coming from the Institut Pasteur International Network, Fiocruz, and the University of Sao Paulo (USP). International candidates can apply for a travel grant. Candidates must fill and send the application form, a short CV (2 pages max) and a letter of support from your head of laboratory or mentor to the following email: firstname.lastname@example.org

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to solicit applications for the International Course on “Outbreak Investigation”, which will be held in the Training Center of the Institut Pasteur-Ho Chi Minh City on 2-6 November 2015. The course will be taught in English. No registration fees – Free accommodation will be provided
Closing Date for Applications: September 4, 2015
Objective: The recent outbreaks of Ebola virus and MERS-CoV have illustrated that effective control and prevention of disease outbreaks depend on early detection, rapid on-site investigation and timely and appropriate interventions. This workshop will allow participants to acquire the skills to choose the best analytical study design during an outbreak investigation, develop questionnaires and draw conclusions that guide public health actions, communicate findings of an outbreak investigation for various audiences and conduct similar training in their own institutions or countries.
Participants’ Profile: The course is specifically designed for health personnel from countries in South East Asia involved in surveillance activities and outbreak investigation. The course will be based on introductory lectures completed by directed, computer-based tutorial with experts and local tutors, and a field study in a local setting.
Applications: Candidates are invited to download application forms at www.hkupasteur.hku.hk. Please return the completed form, including 1-2 letters of recommendation, to email@example.com. The course teaching committee will review applications and select participants.
3) 8th HKU-Pasteur Immunology Course, 22 November - 4 December 2015, Hong Kong, China
