- Karma Training & Workshop, Institut Pasteur du Cambodge - December 8th-18th, 2014
The Malaria Molecular Epidemiology Unit is organizing an “Artemisinin Resistance Monitoring Tools Workshop” which will take place from December 8th to December 18th, 2014 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, as part of its new mandate as WHO collaborative center. The workshop is dedicated to technical and scientific staff involved in Plasmodium falciparum antimalarial drugs resistance surveillance and research in malaria endemic areas.
The objectives are to provide theoretical and practical training to phenotypic and genotypic strategies to monitor artemisinin resistance in Plasmodium falciparum. The workshop will be divided into 2 modules.
- Module 1: the phenotypic module will include good laboratory practice of cellular culture and training on ex-vivo and in-vitro Ring-stage Survival Assay (RSA) from culture adaptation to microscopy and LDH readouts.
- Module 2: the genotypic module will be focused on the K13 genotyping, from extraction to sequence analysis.
The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge will take in charge workshop fees for participants from laboratory involved in the KARMA project; it includes flight tickets, accommodation, Visa and per diem. Other participants will have to find their own founding.
