The first PI retreat of Institute Pasteur of Shanghai (IPS) took place in Sheshan of Shanghai on June 16-17. During one and half days meeting, IPS PIs and invited guests have had an in-depth and open discussion on the accomplishments, strength, weakness and potential improvement in major research directions of IPS such as HIV, viral hepatitis, encephalitis, respiratory viruses. The invited guests have given their valuable comments and suggestions on the present and future improvements of IPS. The meeting has been very interactive and translated the dynamic of IPS. All PIs expressed a strong wish to continue to participate actively to the scientific accomplishments of the Institute in a friendly atmosphere, which is to say that in addition to Scientific value, Solidarity and Synergy are key factors of competitivity and success of the Institute.

　　All 7 PIs and members of scientific direction attended the retreat. Prof. Zhao Guoping, Vice-Chairman of Scientific Committee of SIBS, Executive Director of China Human Genome Center in Shanghai, Prof. Yuan Zhenghong, Deputy Director of Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center, Prof. Xie Qing, Director of Department of Infectious Diseases at Ruijin Hospital, a representative of Shanghai Pasteur Health Research Foundation have joined the retreat.
